The device i.e. hydraulic pump (1), has a handle (3) movably connected with a housing (2) for changing displacement of the device by influencing stroke length of a piston (4) in a cylinder (5). A handle angle sensor (6) detects and displays a handle angle for providing a control system with a handle angle display corresponding to the displacement. Another handle angle sensor (7) i.e. minimum displacement sensor, displays the handle angle when the handle angle is within or outside an interval comprising a zero-stroke angle, where the interval corresponds to plus or minus 5 degrees. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting an angle of a handle relative to a housing for a hydraulic device.
