PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication device which registers only a new person to be registered, and a method for registering biological information in an authentication device. SOLUTION: The authentication device provided with a management processor enabling a manager to designate a person to be registered and registers biological information includes: an ID registering means for registering an ID belonging to the person to be registered having biological information in the authentication device from the management processor, an ID detecting means for detecting the ID, an ID determining means for determining whether the ID detected by the detecting means is the registered ID, and a registering means for registering the biological information of the person having the ID as a person to be registered when the determining means determines that the ID belongs to the person to be registered.
