PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing unit capable of surely eliminating clattery motion of a guiding unit in the retaining member of an image sensor, smoothly moving the image sensor, and mounting a simple mechanism for retaining the central position of the image sensor. SOLUTION: The image capturing unit includes a CCD 32, an XY stage 33 with the CCD mounted thereon and having the guiding unit, a fixed stage 31 having a guide support in contact with the guiding unit to movably support the XY stage 33, and coils 37, 38 to move the XY stage 33 in the two-dimensional direction. A permanent magnet 33g magnetized in the thickness direction is arranged in the XY stage 33 to generate a magnetic flux in the direction parallel to the moving direction. A clamping pin 42 disposed on the fixed stage 31 through an urging spring and a coil 46 wound around the clamping pin are disposed on the surface opposite to the permanent magnet 33g.
