PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology relating to video evaluation with which more accurate video evaluation than the prior arts can be performed. SOLUTION: The video display performance evaluation apparatus for evaluating a video signal display performance of a video display system for displaying a video image includes: a storage section for storing video data to be displayed on a screen; a video signal generation section for extracting video data stored in the storage section to output the video data as a video signal; and a display section including the screen for displaying thereon video data contained in a video signal generated by the video signal generation section. The storage section then stores, as the image data, a test pattern for determining whether to correctly display a video image on the screen on the basis of the video signal, and the video signal generation section extracts a test pattern stored in the storage section and outputs it as a test pattern video signal.
