<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and practical electromagnetic shielding member using aluminum which substantially eliminates contrast unevenness of a display screen by eliminating poor precision of an aluminum pattern formed by chemical etching when the material of a metal pattern is changed from copper to inexpensive aluminum. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In an electromagnetic shielding member where an aluminum mesh layer 2 is laminated on a transparent base 1, an oxide film 3 of aluminum at least on the upper surface of the aluminum mesh layer 2 (surface of the aluminum mesh layer 2 on the side remote for the transparent base) has a thickness of 0-13 Å, and a variation (Smax-Smin)/Sav in the opening area (S) of mesh is 0.059 or less.
