<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely improve a dimensional accuracy and a registration accuracy of an image formed on a recording medium. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has an image forming means which forms the image to the recording medium by applying an ink after applying a processing liquid to the recording medium, a deformation amount specifying part 206 which specifies a deformation amount of the recording medium by an ink application timing on the basis of deformation characteristic information which shows the corresponding relationship between an ink application condition after application of the processing liquid and deformation of the recording medium, and an expanding and compressing part 207 which expands and compresses image data by a longitudinal lateral variable magnification on the basis of the specified deformation amount.
