<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric kettle allowing a user to easily operate it with one hand when supplying hot water by tilting a kettle body and pouring hot water and appropriately setting a boiling time, or a time required for boiling water. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This electric kettle includes: a valve mechanism 20 capable of preventing the outflow of hot water from a body 7 via a pouring lip 9; an opening/closing operation portion 14 of the valve mechanism 20 at a position in an opposite side thereof in the other side of a steam port 12; a common steam chamber 29a for receiving steam; a detection-side steam passage 40 extending from the common steam chamber 29a toward a steam detection mechanism 19; and an emission-side steam passage 29b communicating with a kettle outside space via the steam port 12; and adjusts a boiling time.
