The orthosis has a pivot (7) pivotably connecting two bar elements (1, 2) with each other around a pivot axis. The pivot has a pivot pin coupling the bar elements with each other such that the bar elements are pivotable relative to each other in an abduction and adduction direction. A prestress producing device produces prestress between the bar elements and comprises a dynamic drive unit. The drive unit is in effective connection with the bar elements at respective sides such that the bar elements are dynamically prestressed in the abduction and adduction direction by the drive unit.
