The device has a drive bar (12) driven by a motor (10) i.e. reversing motor, for moving a wiping arm. The drive bar drives a gear wheel (24) over a gear rod (22). The gear wheel is connected with the wiping arm by an output element in a torque-proof manner. The gear rod is connected with the drive bar at an angle in the range of 0 to 90 degrees, where the angle is individually adjustable by an adjusting element (26). The motor drives a connecting rod (14) over the drive bar, so that rotation movement of the connecting rod is converted into linear movement of a spindle nut (16).
