The method involves spraying the surface with a suitable fluid. The water, upstream from the surface, is subjected to an in-situ-treatment for producing an oxidizing agent by a diamond electrode arrangement (5). The water is enriched with the oxidizing agent, where the oxidizing agent enriched water is sprayed on the surface and left there for a retention time. The sprayed water is collected and redirected in a circuit for fresh in-situ-treatment. An independent claim is included for a device for cleaning and disinfecting an inner wall of a surface coming into contact with foodstuff.
