<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a free-cutting ceramic composite material exhibiting excellent free-cutting property, high bending strength and Young's modulus and excellent machinability. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is the free-cutting ceramic composite material having hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) contained in the grain boundary of a matrix composed of ceramic particles, wherein the maximum particle diameter of the h-BN existing in the free-cutting ceramic composite material is <22 μm, and the standard deviation of area ratio when the quantity of the h-BN existing in the grain boundary in the free-cutting ceramic composite material is measured is ≤0.15, so that the free-cutting ceramic composite material exhibiting excellent free-cutting property, high bending strength and Young's modulus and developing excellent machinability is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
