PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which, even when a password manager restricting a change in setting of a crime prevention function is in a remote place, allows a user to optimally release password lock. SOLUTION: In the portable terminal, a control part uses first authentication information to lock a function provided in the portable terminal; and a radio communication part for the portable telephone transmits to first equipment E-mail including at least lock release request instruction information while the function provided for the portable terminal is locked and receives E-mail including at least second authentication information from the first equipment. The control part extracts the second authentication information included in the received E-mail, determines whether or not the second authentication information matches the first authentication information while the extracted second authentication information is not displayed, and releases the locked function which is provided for the portable terminal when it is determined that the second authentication information matches the first authentication information.
