PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage system which efficiently supplies heat energy to a hydrogen supply apparatus and can effectively utilize a petroleum-based fuel infrastructure. SOLUTION: The hydrogen storage system uses hydrogen supplied using a catalyst from a hydrogen storage material which chemically stores hydrogen, and comprises: a heat engine using energy on combustion of the hydrogen storage material or a dehydrogenated compound thereof; the hydrogen supply apparatus which supplies hydrogen using the heat of exhaust gas of the heat engine and the catalyst from the hydrogen storage material which chemically stores hydrogen; and a compressor which compresses hydrogen supplied from the hydrogen supply apparatus with the power of the heat engine.
