<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently cool a light source of a document scanner. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to a document scanner including: an elongated light guide member which includes a light source part at an edge and diffuses illumination light of the light source part in a main scanning direction with respect to a document; and a scan member for moving the light guide member in a sub scanning direction with respect to the document, wherein the light source part includes a semiconductor light-emitting element mounted on a substrate and a heat radiating member in contact with the substrate.
