<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger for further miniaturizing a core section in the width direction without causing rigidity of the core section caused by shortage of connecting force of reinforcements and tanks. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This heat exchanger (condenser 1) includes: the pair of tanks 2, 3 disposed at a prescribed interval; the core section 4 comprising a plurality of tubes 4a inserted and fixed to the pair of tanks 2, 3 at both ends, and a plurality of fins 4b stacked alternately with the tubes 4a; and the reinforcements 10 respectively disposed at both sides in the stacking direction of the core section 4, and inserted and fixed to the pair of tanks 2, 3 at both ends. The reinforcements 10 have the roughly U-shaped cross section opened at an outer side in the stacking direction of the core section 4 over the full length, and both sidewalls 10a, 10a of the roughly U-shaped cross-section of the reinforcements 10 are formed into the shape lowered in a staircase pattern from the center to both end sides in the longitudinal direction.
