<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the retraction of a power plant when the center of the vehicle front body structure in the vehicle width direction is violently collided with an obstacle such as a pole having no broadened part in the vehicle width direction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A front side frame 22 is divided into a first area A, a second area B, and a third area C successively in this order from a front end to a rear end, and different energy absorbing structures are employed in the areas A-C. A vertically extending long bolt 60 is provided at a boundary part between the second area B and the third area C. Right and left ends of a hollow pipe member 64 behind and adjacent to a transverse engine 32 and extending in the vehicle width direction, and an upper end of an arm member 62 extending upwardly from a perimeter frame 28 are jointly fastened with the long bolt 60.
