In a process of ion exchange such as is described in Specification 1,014,808, wherein during contacting the first part of the bed is in fluidised form while during regeneration the first part is also in packed form, the regeneration and contacting is conducted in a double frusto-conical vessel. At the transition point between the two cones its cross-section is smaller by 10 to 50 percent than at the base of the cones. |
