The method involves monitoring a circularly movable component e.g. planetary gear (1), according to a principle of an acoustic camera with respect to structure-borne sound. Two acoustic sensors are attached to the movable component for territorially receiving sound, where body or body part of the movable component is used as a medium for sound propagation. A position of the movable component is determined by a locator. The acoustic sensors are arranged such that no phase transmission occurs within a rotation cycle of the component.
