The system has a battery serving as an energy source for an electrical consumer, and another battery serving as a sensor unit for the former battery, where the batteries are formed as a single component. Each battery include negative electrochemical half cell and positive electrochemical half cells (3, 4), respectively, where the negative- and positive half cells are formed as minus- and plus poles for the batteries, respectively. The negative- and positive half cells form a separate component from each other, and are separated from each other by a separator (8). An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting environmental conditions.
