A locking mechanism (30) has a movable locking element (31) set at a locking position when other gear shift fork (20) is in an engaging position engaging a gear and one gear shift fork (10) is held at a neural position. A contact face (26) of the locking element and locking faces (23,24) of the gear shift fork are designed such that a force for moving the gear shift fork out of the neural position does not generate a component of force against the other gear shift fork in the locking position.
