A system and method for configuring a LED for back lighting a LCD with a high NTSC ratio is provided by using an algorithm to compute the optimum concentration of multiple phosphors so as to obtain white light similar to blackbody radiation of a given temperature and having a large color gamut with respect to the NTSC standard colour gamut.
