<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position coordinate input device for inputting position coordinates under satisfactory video display without making configurations complicated by using the display face of a display means. <P>SOLUTION: An image frame including a line image in an x direction or y direction is successively displayed at a display device 2, and the line image is line-scanned. Also, the line image is detected by an imaging device 42 and a line image detecting part 43 so that the coordinate components of the position coordinates of a section where a touch pen 4 is brought into contact with the display device 2 can be specified. Thus, it is not necessary to provide any exclusive member or exclusive display pattern for specifying the position coordinates. Also, it is not necessary to perform any complicated arithmetic processing.
