The invention relates to a composition containing a particulate solid, a plastic material (such as a thermoplastic polymer) and a compound capable of having dispersant properties. The compound may be obtained/obtainable by reacting (i) a carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof with (ii) an amine or an aminoalcohol, to form a product, wherein the carboxylic acid contains lipophilic group R containing six or more carbon atoms; and wherein the product formed is derived from a molar ratio of (i) to (ii) is either: (a) 1:1 or greater when (i) is a carboxylic acid anhydride, or (b) ratio of greater than 1:1 when (i) is a carboxylic acid. The invention further relates to novel compounds, and the use of the compound as a dispersant. |
