<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light diffusing sheet where heat resistance, thermal dimensional stability, and weather resistance can be improved along with productivity, and further warpage and yellowing or the like can be reduced even when the sheet is subjected to heat generated by a lamp or irradiation with UV rays, and to provide a backlight unit which has luminance irregularity or a decrease in the luminance reduced by using the above light diffusing sheet. <P>SOLUTION: A light diffusing sheet 1 has a transparent base layer 2 and a light diffusing layer 3 stacked on the top face side of the base layer 2. The light diffusing layer 3 contains a light diffusing agent 5 in a binder 4 which consists of a polymer composition containing a polyol, minute inorganic filler, and a hardening agent.
