摘要 1,121,838. Continuous casting. SOC. CIVILE D'ETUDES DE CENTRIFUGATION. 3 Sept., 1965 [4 Sept., 1964; 3 March, 1965], No. 37845/65. Heading B3F. A round bar 7, e.g. of steel or an alloy of similar melting point, is continuously cast in a cooled mould 1 rotated about its substantially vertical axis the entering jet 6 of molten metal meeting the casting near the mould wall, with a horizontal component of velocity, perpendicular to the mould radius, different from the tangential velocity of the casting so that the molten pool is rotated relative to the casting. The mould 1 may be of copper and slightly tapered downwardly. Billets cut from the bar are used to produce tubes or rods or wires by forging, rolling or hotdrawing using glass as lubricant. Jets 11 of water for cooling the emergent casting 7 may be fixed or rotated with it. Drive rolls 12 bear resiliently against the casting and are rotated with their supporting frame 13 by a pinion 14 on the shaft which bears the pinion 2 for rotating the mould 1.
