In a method for cleaning of a ballast bed (2) of a back (3) an upper layer (34) of the ballast is received by a front - with respect to the working direction - clearance apparatus (16) in a first working process (A) - as a function of the degree of contamination of the ballast bed - and is supplied to a first conveyor belt unit (27). In parallel with this, the rest of the ballast (25) is received by a rear - with respect to the working direction - clearance apparatus (20) and is supplied to a second conveyor belt unit (29), in order to carry it away for disposal. In a second working process (B) which can be carried out optionally, the ballast (25) is received exclusively by the rear clearance apparatus (20) and is diverted for cleaning to the first conveyor belt unit (27), with the front clearance apparatus (16) being in an out-of-use position. A diversion device (33) is provided for selective diversion of the ballast from the second to the first conveyor belt unit (29, 27). |
