Class 72 [Also in Group XXV] A hanger or suspension device for use in the heat treatment of a crankshaft compr:ises an open ended normally vertical apertured tube terminating at its lower part in a bulbous formation having a vertical sectional opening and an entrance slot in the base into which bulbous formation the headed extemity of the crankshaft is introduced for vertical suspension purposes. In the Figures, the tube a terminates in a bulous formation a<SP>2</SP> having a vertical sectional opening a<SP>3</SP> and an entrance slot in the base a<SP>4</SP> for receiving the head of a crankshaft. This suspension device may be suspended from a track by means of the apertures a<SP>5</SP>. The uniformity of cross sections of the device facilitates casting in nickel-chrome alloys and ensures freedom from thermal stresses. |
