<p>1062909 Tapping casks F F STEVENS 8 April 1965 [9 April 1964] 15010/65 Headings F2G GQA G14A1 G14B and G9F A keg unit 10 includes a stem 26 which passes through a keg opening 16, and a base 28 which is urged against the keg interior; liquid and gas passages 40, 42 extend through the unit and the flow therethrough is controlled by valves 54, 56 which are opened when a unit 12 is sealingly clamped in position by a screw 32 and nut 106. The unit 12 has corresponding liquid and gas passages 74, 76 respectively, from the lower ends of which tubes 92, 94 depend to force the valves off their seats. The gas valve 56 may, alternatively, be opened by the pressure of the supplied gas. A gas safety valve 116 is located in the gas feed line and opens at a predetermined pressure, or may be manually operated. Sealing gaskets 34 and 98 are provided. As shown, the valves lie in chambers offset from the passages 40, 42 and the lower ends of the tubes 92, 94 are suitably tapered; in a modification the valves are ball valves aligned with their respective passages and their operating tubes have slotted ends. A hose 68 for the supply of liquid from the keg to the unit 12 reaches to the bottom of the keg.</p> |
