PURPOSE: A dish washer and a control method thereof are provided to improve washing and rinsing effects by differentiating the spray pressure of washing water during washing and rinsing strokes. CONSTITUTION: A dish washer comprises a washing pump(16) which pumps up washing water from a sump, a washing motor(8) driving the washing pump, a spray nozzle which sprays the washing water pumped by the washing pump, and a controller(4) which drives the washing motor at different rpm during a washing and a rinsing stroke.
