PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce the loss of light using a red color transformation intermediate layer and a green color transformation intermediate layer. CONSTITUTION: A color transformation intermediate layer(230R,230G) is included on a second substrate(210) and a light-shielding member(220). A transparent light diffusing layer(240) is included on the second substrate and the light-shielding member. An upper polarizing plate(22) is formed on the color transformation intermediate layer and the transparent light diffusing layer. A liquid crystal layer(3) is included between a first substrate and the second substrate. A backlight assembly(700) supplies the light to the first substrate and the second substrate. The backlight assembly comprises a blue light emitting diode.
