<p>PURPOSE: A calculation of location for a portable device based on a base station and a method thereof are provided to calculate the location of a terminal through system information received from a base station in a region where idle handoffs frequently happen. CONSTITUTION: A controller of a portable terminal outputs a standby screen(S101). When an input signal an emergency call service usage happens, the control unit checks whether or not the portable terminal is placed in a GPS system dead zone(S107). When the current portable terminal is placed in the GPS dead zone region, the control unit calculates the location information of the portable terminal based on a BS(Base Station)(S109). The control unit transmits the current location information to an emergency call service center(S111).</p> |
