<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water coating method and a water coating device on a battery separator for coating a little bit of water accurately and surely for improving bottom-part moldability of a separator, in a high-speed rotary dial-system battery manufacturing facilities. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A cylindrical separator 10 is made retained by a mandrel 2 in free rotation so as its open end part to be headed downward, a water tank 3 is arranged in the vicinity of, and in free movement toward, an outer periphery face of the open end part of the cylindrical separator, one end part of a water-feeding member 4 having hydrophilicity and flexibility is immersed in water in the water tank 3, the other end part of the water-feeding member 4 is made faced to the outer periphery face of the open end part of the separator, the mandrel 2 is rotated around an axis while the water tank 3 is advanced toward the mandrel 2 and the other end part of the water-feeding member 4 is pressed to, and made in contact with, the outer periphery face of the open end part of the separator, and, after water is coated from the water-feeding member on a whole periphery of the outer periphery face of the separator open end part, the water tank 3 is made to retreat from the mandrel 2, and the cylindrical separator after the coating is sent out.
