PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for enabling monochrome print when a color ink reaches an ink end. SOLUTION: A combined machine 100 can perform color print and monochrome print and includes a mode control means for controlling a first mode for stopping receiving of a printing job when a color ink is used up, a second mode for communicating it to a driver of a host computer that the monochrome printing is only available, and a monochrome printing mode for carrying out monochrome printing; and an exclusive control means for receiving one job per once. When requirement of transfer to the second mode is received in the first mode, transfer to the second mode is carried out, and when a monochrome printing command is received from the driver in the second mode, transfer to the monochrome printing mode is carried out.
