PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high purity chlorine where the generation of oxygen gas being an impurity is suppressed after liquefied chlorine is filled in a cylinder. SOLUTION: The method for producing high purity chlorine is characterized by that liquefied chlorine is in contact with a zeolite, purified liquefied chlorine obtained by the contact is filled in the cylinder and the generation of oxygen gas in the cylinder is suppressed. As the generation of impurities such as oxygen gas and the like is suppressed by performing purification basing on contact with the zeolite even when high purity chlorine is filled in the cylinder, liquefied chlorine whose purity can be kept for a long term is produced.
