<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent head ends of extension parts of a wrapping material from bending inward so as to prevent packaging defects when the head ends of the extension parts of the wrapping material makes contact with opening and closing members. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Creases m are formed near both ends of a film 2 for wrapping an article. A packaging device has a crease forming mechanism near the width direction both sides of the film 2, which holds the film 2 between a pair of rollers 25 and a rod-shaped supporting roller 26 when the belt-shaped film 2 is fed. A protrusion 25a is formed in each of the rollers 25, and in the supporting roller 26, recesses 26a are formed into which the protrusions 25a are fit. When the film 2 passes between the rollers 25 and the supporting roller 26, the creases m are formed by the protrusions 25a and the recesses 26a to have a valley fold on the exterior side. The head ends of the extension parts curve toward the exterior side due to the crease m so as to intersect opening and closing pawls at an acute angle when the extension parts of the film 2 are opened by the opening and closing pawls in the width direction of the article while wrapping the article in the film 2 like a belly band.
