<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous static pressure gas bearing and a method for manufacturing the same wherein cost reduction can be attained, a region where gas can be supplied in pores of a porous metal sintered body can be broadened, and gas ejection can be performed as desired so as to function as a thrust bearing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The porous static pressure gas bearing 1 includes: a cylindrical porous metal sintered body 2 and a similarly cylindrical housing 8; a gas supply passage 3 through which gas is supplied to thin holes of the porous metal sintered body 2, which is provided within the porous metal sintered body 2: and a gas introduction passage 7 wherein one end 4 is opened to a cylindrical outer surface 5 of the porous metal sintered body 2 and other end 6 is opened to the gas supply passage 3 to introduce high pressure air to the gas supply passage 3, which is also provided in the porous metal sintered body 2.
