<p>A front fork, wherein the spring force of a suspension spring (S, S100) housed in a fork body can be adjusted by lifting and lowering the upper end of the suspension spring (S, S100) by drive of a jack mechanism housed in the fork body. In the jack mechanism, a pressure chamber (R3, R103) is defined by a piston member (12, 113) and a cap member (11, 111) closing an opening in the upper end of a vehicle body-side tube (1, 101). The piston member (12, 113) is lifted and lowered by supplying and discharging pressurized oil from the pressure chamber (R3, R103), and this lifts and lowers the upper end of the suspension spring (S1.
