The brake (1) has a brake mechanism with a brake element that is movable into a brake chamber limited with respect to a rotational axis by a side surface of a base or housing (6). The side surface points in a radial direction and formed as a brake surface. The chamber is limited with respect to the axis by a side surface of a component i.e. hollow wheel, where the component side surface is formed as another brake surface that is arranged radially at a distance to the former brake surface. The brake element lies in a fixed set position at the brake surfaces in a frictional manner.
