The common-rail fuel injection system has a fuel reservoir (12), a high pressure reservoir (9) for filling of combustion chambers, a combustion engine and a pump arrangement with two high-pressure pumps (1,10,11) for promoting fuel from the fuel reservoir to high pressure reservoir. The high-pressure pumps of the pump arrangement have a magnetically operated suction valve (5) for closing pumping space against the fuel reservoir. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a high-pressure pump for a fuel injection system; and (2) a method for filling of combustion chambers of combustion engine.
