<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that has a simple configuration and in which a process cartridge can be replaced even with a small force. <P>SOLUTION: Interlocked with the opening/closing of a front cover 11A, a side plate 80 is swung around a shaft 83, and a drawer unit 70 accommodating the process cartridge 30 is swung integrally with the side plate 80. When the front cover 11A is closed, four photoreceptor drums 31 abut on a conveying belt 23. When the front cover 11A is opened and the side plate 80 is swung to a position shown in Fig.3, a paper inrush guide 18 and so on are prevented from overlapping in the direction of the arrangement of the process cartridges 30.
