<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizer and a method of cleaning by which an object to be treated can be efficiently cleaned when the object to be treated is put into a container and is cleaned. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sterilizer 1 includes a container 20, support members 31 and 32 which support the container 20, a vibration source which vibrates the container 20, a cleaning liquid supply means 60 which supplies the container 20 with a cleaning liquid, a vapor supply means 70 which supplies vapor to the inside of the container 20, a treatment liquid discharge means 65, and a part 27 for discharging the object to be treated. The container 20 has both ends is formed of a cylindrical body closed by wall parts and arranged substantially horizontally. The driving source consists of a vibrating motor 50.
