PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an image with higher image quality than sub field image signals on the basis of a point spread function and a plurality of sub field image signals. SOLUTION: When capturing a one-frame image, aperture stop shape switching is performed for switching aperture stop shapes 1202, 1203, 1204 of an imaging lens to a plurality of kinds of aperture stop shapes, light transmitted through an aperture stop of the imaging lens is received, and a plurality of sub field image signals corresponding to a plurality of opening shapes are generated. For the one-frame image, a plurality of depth information items are generated from the plurality of sub field image signals, a point spread function is calculated from the plurality of depth information items, and an image signal with a higher resolution than the sub field image signals is generated on the basis of the point spread function and the plurality of sub field image signals.
