<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the accuracy in correcting light emission start timing shift of a light beam when reference timing is shifted. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image projection device includes: an image modulator generating the light beam in which the light emission of a light source part is modulated on the basis of an image signal; an optical scanner for performing outward and homeward scanning by a reflective surface for oscillating the light beam; a reference timing generation part generating the reference timing for causing the light source part to emit light; a light emission timing correction part correcting the light emission start timing of the light beam in each of outward and homeward paths on the basis of the reference timing; and a photosensor detecting the light beam in the outward and homeward paths. The light emission timing correction part generates the light beam in which the light emission timing is varied with respect to the reference timing in the outward and homeward paths, and corrects the light emission timing of each of the outward and homeward paths on the basis of the variation amount of the light emission start timing when the light beam is detected by the photosensor.
