<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm device with reduced operation sound of a diaphragm blade, and a lens barrel of a camera. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The diaphragm device 4 includes: a plurality of diaphragm blades 20 regulating an aperture through which incident subject light passes, and arranged to be superposed each other in a predetermined direction; a drive part 50 driving to open/close the plurality of diaphragm blades 20 in accordance with a desired diaphragm value so that size of the aperture may be the desired one; a blade chamber 60 housing the plurality of diaphragm blades 20; and a piezoelectric element 40 functioning as a blade chamber varying means for making space in an optical axis L1 direction of the blade chamber 60 wider when the diaphragm blade 20 is driven to be opened/closed by the drive part 50 than when the diaphragm blade 20 is not driven to be opened/closed thereby.
