<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life dryer capable of relieving the operation loads of a compressor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The dryer includes, inside a body 1: a drying container; a heat-pump device 18 unitizing a radiator 21, a heat sink 23 and the compressor 20; a circulation air passage disposed between the drying container and the heat-pump device 18; and a fan for circulating air within the drying container via the circulation air passage which are disposed. The dryer also has a cooling damper 26 disposed at the position of the circulation air passage to cool the compressor 20, and a control device to control the operation of the cooling fan. Excessive energy can be released from a cooling opening 13d by releasing the cooling damper 26, and loads on the compressor 20 can be relieved under the condition in which the operation loads on the compressor 20 rise, and the life of the device can be extended.
