A method and network device for acquiring management addresses by wireless access devices are provided by the embodiments of the present invention. The method includes: according to an address of a provisioning security gateway, implementing a key exchanging negotiation with the provisioning security gateway, establishing a temporary encryption channel; transmitting a request message to an IP address distribution unit via the temporary encryption channel of the provisioning security gateway in order to request the IP address distribution unit to distribute the management IP address; receiving a response message replied by the IP address distribution unit, the management IP address distributed for the wireless access device is carried in the response message. By the method provided by the embodiments of the present invention, the distribution management address is acquired automatically by the wireless access device.
