<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent glutinousness from boiling over without reducing the heating power to heat a pot in a rice cooker having the function of preventing glutinousness occurring in rice cooking from boiling over, and to cook delicious rice by cooking it at the heating power optimum for the amount of rice cooked with little unevenness in cooking. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The upper part of the rice cooker body is freely openably/closably covered by a lid 2. A pot 1 is detachably/attachably housed in the rice cooker body. The pot 1 is heated by a heating means 3. The temperature of the pot 1 is detected by a pot temperature detecting means 4, and the temperature of the lid 2 is detected by a lid temperature detecting means 5. Cooking rice is carried out by a rice cooking control means 6 by controlling the heating means 3 by determining the amount of rice cooked from the input of the pot temperature detecting means 4 and the lid temperature detecting means 5. The rice cooker has a steam treatment device 8 blowing wind to the bubbles of glutinousness which occur at the time of rice cooking at the lid 2. The rice cooking control means 6 controls the action of the steam treatment device 8 and always carries out rice cooking with a high heating power optimum to the amount of rice cooked.
