PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an echo canceler for achieving excellent echo canceling performance even in a double talk state. SOLUTION: The echo canceler 10 includes an adaptive filter 20, a subtractor 30 and an error signal generating circuit 40. The adaptive filter 20 includes a pseudo echo signal y'(k) from a reception signal x(k) before being inputted from a speaker 3. The subtractor 30 subtracts the pseudo echo signal y'(k) from an input signal y<SB>in</SB>(k) inputted into a microphone 2 to generate an echo canceling signal p(k). The error signal generating circuit 40 removes a pseudo audio signal r(k-1) equivalent to a voice signal v(k) of a speaking person from the echo canceling signal p(k), thereby generating an error signal s(k-1).
