<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing paper, which improves a filler yield effective when a cellulose fiber slurry to be a raw material contains a large amount of anion trash in a scaled-up and speeded-up paper machine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for producing paper having an ash content of paper of ≥10 mass% includes adding aluminum sulfate, a cationic paper-strengthening agent and a filler to a cellulose fiber slurry and then dividedly adding an anionic yield improver to the slurry before or after a screen treatment. More preferably, the amount of the anionic yield improver to be added after the screen treatment is an amount equal to or smaller than an amount to be added before the screen treatment.
