<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder capable of providing a stable pressing force irrespective of whether the number of sheets of media to be fed is large or not when a pressing member presses the loaded media to be fed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The feeder (70) includes: the pressing member 80 for pressing the media to be fed (P); a tooth part 14 extending in the stacking direction Z of the media to be fed (P); a pivot shaft part (103) having a first gear (101) meshed with the tooth part 14 and rotating integrally with the first gear (101), a power transmission means (90) for transmitting the power of a motor (77) to the pivot shaft part (103); and a frictional force generating means (130) which generates a static frictional force, transmits a power to the pivot shaft part (103) by the static frictional force, and turns the pivot shaft part (103) when the pivot shaft part (103) can be turned, and which generates a specified dynamic frictional force and imparts a power to the pivot shaft part (103) by the specified dynamic frictional force when the pivot shaft part (103) cannot be turned.
